St. Luke’s Health System is currently seeking a System Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P and T) Chair for the P and T Committee. Collaborating with the System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the System Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO), and reporting his/her work to the Medical Arm Steering Committee, the System P and T Chair oversees the efficient decision-making of a multidisiciplinary group of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and administrators to assure that quality, cost, and access to appropriate medications and treatments are maximized for our patients in both the ambulatory and inpatient environments of care. The System P and T Chair will assure that the work of the System P and T Committee is in line with producing ever-improving outcomes and reducing the total cost of care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead the System P & T Committee meetings
In collaboration with the System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO), participate in organizing the committee, to include:
Selection of members
Determination of its place in the organizational decision-making structure
Determination of the scope of the committee and lines of authority
Directing the formation of appropriate subcommittees, as needed
Provide leadership and direction in the development and maintenance of a Committee Charter, which defines scope, objectives, responsibilities, membership, and reporting
In collaboration with the CPO, direct the pharmacy team on the cadence, content, and agenda of the meetings
Support regular attendance by providers
Review agenda and provide input and direction
In collaboration with the Chief Quality Officer (CQO), provide physician leadership and guidance related to Medication Safety for the St. Luke’s Health System
Provide direction on communication strategy around committee decisions and recommendations
Direct the pharmacy team to appropriate providers and subject-matter experts to vet agenda items prior to meetings
Provide direction to pharmacy team in resolving challenging situations pertaining to P&T topics
Serve as a liaison with site P&T Committees and sub committees of the System P&T Committee
Present regular updates on Committee actions to the Medical Arm Steering Committee (MASC)
Regularly assess the performance of the committee
Monitor performance and impact of work is improving
Ensure committee is achieving its goals and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS: (Minimum qualifications required for the job)
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine or Osteopathy and successful completion of an accredited residency program.
Experience: At least 3 years of clinical practice is required, 5 years preferred. Must have a history of leadership role(s) in healthcare, preferably in the area of Pharmacy and Therapeutics.
Licenses/Certifications: 1) Membership as a licensed physician (MD or DO) on a St. Luke’s Medical Staff. 2) Board Certification within specialty. 3) Ability to maintain at least a part-time clinical practice while performing the job duties noted above.
